Principle of Operation
The Mini Cyclomix lab mixer combines both impact and shear forces to mix powders effectively. An agitator, equipped with paddles and a knife blade, rotates the product, generating centrifugal forces that move the powder particles upwards along the wall of the conical vessel. At the top of the cone, a specially designed dome redirects the particles downward through the centre of the vessel, creating a circulating flow pattern, further enhanced by the rotational movement.
Most of the mechanical energy is applied by the paddles against the vessel wall, utilising the entire cone surface. This large surface area relative to the product volume makes the Mini Cyclomix more efficient than other high-shear blenders, achieving a homogeneous blend with minimal mechanical energy input. Additionally, by adjusting the mixing speed and time, the Cyclomix can perform various other processes, such as coating, bonding, rounding, and densification, offering great versatility in operation.
