Press metal powders are used for the production of products for the automotive industry like gear wheels, bushings and lobes for camshafts. To give you a good idea of the size of this application, a modern automobile contains an average of 10 kg of sintered components. More recently, the use of sintered components has increased outside of the automotive sector. Power tools, major and minor domestic appliances, locks and pumps all tend to use parts produced from press metal powders.
Mixing & Coating
Our Nauta conical screw mixer is ideal for mixing press metal powders. If you need to add a binder for pressing, it can be useful to be able to add it during the mixing process. Depending on the batch size and type of material, the Cyclomix high shear impact mixer is a great choice for this, especially considering its extremely short mixing times and excellent cleanability.
The Cyclomix high-shear impact mixer is also ideal for creating a uniform coating on each powder particle. This is good for coating particles with oil for increased protection against oxidisation for example, and for mixing metal ingredients with waxes for easy release from the mould during pressing.
