Process Systems for Fish Feed
Manufactured fish feed is an important part of commercial aquaculture, providing balanced nutrition for farmed fish. Fish feed in the form of small pellets or granules provides the nutrition in a stable and concentrated form enabling the fish to grow to their full potential. The raw products in this particular case are notoriously difficult to handle.
They can be wet, in slurry form, cake or even dry form, and exhibit poor flow characteristics and cohesive tendencies. Fish products are also temperature sensitive. When you add these difficulties to the demand for colour and taste, it is easy to see why it is critical to choose the correct dryer.
Cost-Effective Processing
Drying fish feed with the DMR flash dryer has proven very effective and allows significant savings in process costs. Fish feed production using traditional dryers tends to be a costly operation that results in unwanted agglomerates that subsequently call for additional milling. In contrast to this, the DMR can dry, deagglomerate and classify even the most difficult products into a fine and uniform product, in one efficient step.
Combining multiple process steps into a single machine simplifies the process and reduces operating costs. With the introduction of the DMR, even problematic products can now be efficiently dried and classified in just one process step. The result is a fine, uniform product. Depending on the product characteristics, the system can also be operated as a closed circuit with inert gas. In addition, the DMR is characterized by its pressure-shock resistant design.
The DMR flash dryer uses less thermal energy per kilogram of evaporated water; it simplifies the process; reduces operational costs, and is environmentally-friendlier than its traditional equivalents.
